The Role

Depending on the school and assignment, responsibilities may include:

• Supporting pupils within the classroom
• Providing 1:1 and small-group support
• Helping pupils access classroom learning
• Supporting literacy and numeracy activities
• Delivering interventions under teacher guidance
• Supporting pupils with SEND and additional learning needs
• Encouraging confidence, communication and independence
• Promoting positive behaviour and engagement
• Helping pupils manage classroom routines and transitions
• Preparing resources and supporting the class teacher
• Following safeguarding and school procedures

Who We’re Looking For

We’d particularly like to hear from candidates who:

• Have experience working with children or young people
• Build positive relationships with pupils
• Are patient, encouraging and dependable
• Communicate clearly with children and colleagues
• Can adapt their approach to individual learning needs
• Work confidently as part of a school team
• Understand the importance of safeguarding
• Are genuinely motivated by helping children make progress

Previous school experience is valuable, but relevant experience from SEND, childcare, tutoring, mentoring, coaching or youth work may also be considered depending on the opportunity.
