Career Decisions

Are you struggling to find motivation for work on a Monday morning? Maybe you’ve hit a bump in your career and need a fresh start. If so, then now is the time to assess your current role and determine whether a change is what you need to get that Monday motivation back.

Begin by asking yourself the following questions:

Is My Manager Aware of My Concerns?

So, before you make any impulsive decisions to change or leave your current role, you must speak to and express your concerns or wishes to your manager.

Afterall, if your manager is unaware of your thoughts or feelings then how can they help you?

Speaking to your manager should help you understand how you can progress in your role, and if your role does not allow you to progress to your desired level then you know it’s time for a change.

If you still feel like you are living in the dark after speaking with your manager, or if your manager was confrontational towards your concerns then these are also good indicators for a change.

Can I Progress Any Further?

Have you completed all levels of your current role? Is there a bonus level you are unaware of that needs completing?

If you feel like your current role is complete or is preventing you from growing then this is a good sign to change and find a new position. It’s never too late to explore new opportunities and expand on your knowledge and skills.

Maybe you desire a new role that enables you to practice and demonstrate leadership.

Am I Appreciated Enough In My Current Position?

How is your current role making you feel, either physically and mentally? Have you noticed a significant change in your mood recently? Your job or workplace could be the cause of this.

If you feel as though you have given your all yet fail to see respect from your colleagues or students then this could be your time to find a new role.

So, having answered these questions you should now have determined whether a change is what you need. If you are looking to change roles but feel intimidated by the process it requires then you should consider speaking to an agency.
