Forward Teaching is looking to connect with Cover Supervisors in Bexley for current and upcoming opportunities within local schools.

This could suit an experienced Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant or school support professional, as well as a graduate, sports coach, youth worker or aspiring teacher with strong experience working with young people.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, your responsibilities may include:

• Supervising classes during teacher absence
• Delivering work that has been set by the class teacher
• Giving pupils clear instructions and keeping lessons on track
• Managing classroom behaviour positively and consistently
• Supporting pupils who need clarification or encouragement
• Helping pupils with additional learning needs access set work
• Following individual school routines and behaviour policies
• Reporting relevant information back to teaching staff
• Supporting other areas of the school where appropriate
• Following safeguarding policies and procedures

This isn’t about arriving with a lesson plan and pretending to be the absent teacher. It’s about providing calm, confident classroom supervision so learning can continue.

The Ideal Candidate

• Have experience working with children or young people
• Are confident speaking to and supervising groups
• Can establish professional boundaries
• Remain calm when situations become challenging
• Communicate clearly and confidently
• Are reliable, adaptable and organised
• Can follow instructions and school policies
• Have a genuine interest in education
• Understand the importance of safeguarding

Previous classroom experience is beneficial but isn’t always essential.

Relevant experience from coaching, mentoring, tutoring, youth work, SEND support or other child-focused environments may be considered depending on the opportunity.
