SEN Teaching Assistant opportunities in Dartford

Whether you already have substantial SEN experience or have worked with children in a transferable setting, we’d be happy to discuss the type of opportunity you’re looking for.

The role

Depending on the school, pupil needs and assignment, responsibilities may include:

• Providing 1:1 or small-group support
• Supporting pupils with autism, ADHD and other additional needs
• Helping pupils access classroom learning and activities
• Following individual support and education plans
• Encouraging communication, independence and confidence
• Using positive strategies to support behaviour and emotional regulation
• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff
• Recording observations and pupil progress where required
• Helping create a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment
• Following school safeguarding policies and procedures

The ideal candidate

We’d particularly like to hear from people who:

• Have experience supporting children or young people with additional needs
• Are patient, dependable and encouraging
• Communicate clearly with children and colleagues
• Can build positive relationships while maintaining appropriate boundaries
• Are comfortable adapting their approach to individual pupils
• Understand the importance of consistency and safeguarding
• Can work effectively as part of a school team

Relevant school experience is valuable, but we are also interested in hearing from candidates with transferable experience from SEND, youth work, care or other child-focused settings.
